WK1: Virtual Fundamentals of Music and Dance Workshop

COA Riverwest

This was my first time working with this young age of student (youngest was 4 yrs, a couple also have Autism). Particularly working with them virtually, I wasn't sure how they would calm down and pay attention, so I really had to improvise and feel out the energy of each group and see how I could harness it and keep their focus and engagement. With each group I tried slightly different approaches, from basic counting and clapping, to drumming, dancing, and coming up with choreography (much different from the Goldin group, focused on songwriting). I figured out different sing song commands and hand gestures to help them mirror me and stay focused on me like a video game or interactive TV show ("Bill Nye's talking back to me!")
